Westleigh Start Well Centre
On the 1st September Westleigh Children’s Centre became Westleigh Start Well Family Centre and joined a wider network of services with the Start Well provision. The centre includes the other former Children’s centres within Leigh, Lowton and Golborne. These centres have become linked sites. More information regarding Start Well can be found at www.wigan.gov.uk
Services are delivered from the main centre, the linked sites and within the wider community at a range of venues.
Within our Start Well Family Centre we work with a range of partners and other groups to provide:
- Early Years provision - full day care for 2 - 3 year olds, Nursery education places and extended care places for 3 - 4 year olds.
- Training and support for Early Years providers
- Crèche facilities
- Parent and child groups/activities
- Childminder's network
- Parenting and family support services
- Education, training and employment services
- Access to health and other wider services.
Kelly Wall is the Start Well Family Centre Manager and Maria Witcombe is the Senior Start well Worker. They works closely with children, families and the community to identify the services required within Leigh, Lowton and Golborne. In our team we also have four Start Well Workers who are available for families to speak to at any time. We also have Early Years workers who will deliver a range of projects and activities for children and parents including baby massage, craft activities, physical activities and book based projects.
Projects, activities and events are advertised at the Westleigh site, in the Hubs and at other local venues. You can also view this information and much more on the Family Information Service website www.wiganfis.org.uk.
Receptionists are always on hand at our Westleigh site and often at the Leigh Central and Golborne Hubs to offer any advice or information required.
