We are very much looking forward to having all the children back together in school on Monday 16th April. A big well done to Year 6 who have already been back since Wednesday 11th April to prepare for their exams in May. We look forward to seeing everybody at the usual time of 8:45.
Please note changes to dropping off and picking up children:
Nursery - As Honey Bears have now moved to their new premises, we have made some positive changes to provision to best suit the children on our registers. A new entrance and doorway has been created (this is between the original Nursery doorway and Year 1 door leading directly into the playground). Please take your children into Nursery to look at their new and exciting learning environment.
Reception - The usual pupil entrance is out of use, so please take your child through the Start Well play area at the side of school and follow the building round until you arrive at the new Reception entrance via their outdoor play area.
Year 1 - Pupils will continue to use the door leading onto the playground as usual.
Year 2 - The children will enter their classroom via the Start Well play area at the side of school, please follow the building round until you reach the new Year 2 entrance.
Year 3 & 4 - Pupils will enter their new mobile classrooms from the playground, through the green gate which will be signposted.
Year 5 - The entrance is directly onto the playground under the canopy (the old Nursery doors).
Year 6 - The chapel door leading onto the playground will be the pupil entrance (not the door on the main road).
There will be clear signage and staff on hand to direct you so please don’t worry!
Please collect your child from the same place you drop them off in the morning. End of day collection times have changed slightly for some classes:
Nursery - 3:00
Reception - 3:05
Year 1 - 3:05
Year 2, 3 & 4 - 3:10
Year 5 & 6 - 3:15
Please pass on this information to anyone that will be picking up your child.
PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE ACQUIRED THE SPACE ON THE START WELL CAR PARK FOR THE TWO MOBILE CLASSROOMS. PLEASE CAN I ASK THAT PARENTS DO NOT PARK ON THIS CAR PARK IN ORDER TO LEAVE ENOUGH PARKING SPACES FOR START WELL STAFF AND VISITORS, THE REMAINING SPACES BELONG TO THE HIGH SCHOOL.
We will still run our school breakfast club from 8am in the new Y5 classroom. You will need to go through the Start Well centre and drop off your child at the internal classroom door (this will be sign posted). The main playground gates will still be locked at this time.
We will not have access to kitchen facilities for the summer term, therefore all pupils will have packed lunches. Pupils eligible for free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch. If you choose to purchase a school dinner there will only be a sandwich option. There is no access to the hall due to the restoration work taking place, so pupils will have dinner in their classroom before going out to play.
Although there will be considerable change for the children during the summer term, we have worked hard to ensure we keep our school community together on one site. Thank you once again for your patience during this challenging time. There has been an overwhelmingly positive network of support in which we are very grateful. Westleigh Methodist is privileged to be part of such a warm and loving community.
