Bedford Hall Methodist Primary School has a strong and meaningful partnership with Edukid, a charity dedicated to removing barriers to education for children living in poverty.

Through this partnership, we currently sponsor two children, Angel and Ivan, enabling them to access education in Uganda. This reflects the school’s commitment to justice, equality, and serving the common good beyond its immediate community.

This global link is embedded within the curriculum. In Key Stage 1, children study Uganda as part of their non-European geographical learning, developing an understanding of different cultures and contexts. Across the school, Edukid’s learning materials are also used within the PSHE curriculum, helping pupils to explore themes such as sustainability, global responsibility, and social justice.

Pupil leadership is central to sustaining this partnership. The Ethos Committee engage annually in a live Zoom call with Angel and Ivan, taking thoughtful questions from their classes and sharing responses across the school. This enables pupils to engage directly with global issues and deepen their understanding.

The partnership is also celebrated within collective and community worship. Each Christmas, pupils in Key Stage 2 lead elements of the Carol Concert, sharing the work of Edukid and raising awareness within the wider community.

In 2024, this partnership was further strengthened when a member of staff visited Uganda through the charity, working directly with Koch Goma School. This visit enabled the sharing of gifts from the school community and brought back first-hand experiences and stories, making the partnership tangible and deeply meaningful for pupils.
