Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED)
Statement of Intent
At Bedford Hall Methodist Primary School, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and ensuring that all members of our school community are treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
As part of Epworth Education Trust, we recognise our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). We actively seek to remove barriers, improve outcomes and create a culture where everyone feels valued and able to flourish.
The Public Sector Equality Duty
In carrying out our functions, the school must have due regard to the need to:
Eliminate discrimination – We work to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and prejudice through our policies, curriculum, staff training and behaviour expectations.
Advance equality of opportunity – We seek to identify and remove barriers which may prevent children, staff or families from participating fully in school life and achieving their potential.
Foster good relations – We promote understanding, respect and positive relationships between people of different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and experiences.
School Equality Information
To support our work in meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty, the school reviews and monitors information relating to our pupils and school community.
